Galvanized steel structure for sales harbour

April 2011 – Lots of shipyards do not only build new boats, they sell used vessels as well. A new covered sales harbour where the boats for sale are moored has been built at a marina in Sneek. The steel structure of this sales harbour, which has a wide clear span and is erected over the water, has been hot-dip galvanized by Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard.

Verzinkerij Operations Office for service and quality

March 2011 – To enhance teamwork and communications, both inside and outside the company, Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard has moved its Operations Office. During the Christmas shutdown, a new office unit was set up at the location of the old weighbridge. All employees involved in order processing, planning and transport, quality and dispatch operations for both galvanisation and powder coating are now housed in the new unit.

Stylish renovation of company building

February 2011 – The building in Heerhugowaard housing a chocolate factory and a specialist printer has been completely overhauled. The outer wall has been fitted out a new awning that gives the premises a modern look. It was treated using the Duplex road, and so Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard hot-dip galvanised it first, before it was powder coated by Poedercoating Heerhugowaard.

Nuwendoorn watchtower

December 2010 – The foundations of the 13th century fort Nuwendoorn were discovered near Eenigenburg in the province of Noord-Holland. To mark the location and to open it up to the public, the north-western tower has been rebuilt using modern materials. Visitors can climb the twenty-five metres to the top of the steel watchtower via a steel staircase with Staco perfo treads and landings. Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard hot-dip galvanised the steel structure for the watchtower.

Hermitage in Zaandam

December 2010 – The Hermitage, the new construction project in the area around Zaandam railway station, includes a total of 105 homes, 11,000 m2 of shops, an underground car park and a cinema. The end plates for the steel profile components were cut to size by De Boer Snijbedrijf. All the steel that comes into contact with the air, including the steel in the cavity walls, was galvanised by Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard and given a twin layer of powder coating by Poedercoating Heerhugowaard.

Slag recycling

November 2010 – When rubbish is incinerated in domestic waste processing facilities, or when iron ore and coal are smelted in blast furnaces a by-product is created: slag. Slag is a mixture of many components including heavy metals. In a special slag processing plant, metals and non-metals are separated using magnets, metal sensors and sieve units so that they can be reclaimed for re-use. Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard galvanised components for several such plants.

ATO: breeding ground for sustainable ideas!

October 2010 – ATO (the Technology Transfer Association) has built the ATO Synergy Centre in Den Helder. The aim of the centre is to bring together entrepreneurs with a shared objective: developing and marketing sustainable, innovative products in a responsible way. Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard hot-dip galvanised the steel structure for the new centre. The building has also been furnished with Staco louvre gratings.

Durable shelter for army vehicles

September 2010 – The Dutch army's old warhorse, the YPR-765 armoured infantry fighting vehicle, is gradually being replaced by more modern combat vehicles. To shelter the new fleet, large roofs have been erected at the barracks in Havelte, Ermelo, ’t Harde and Wezep. Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard hot-dip galvanised the steel elements for the shelters.

Renovation of the Haringvlietbrug

August 2010 – Between the Hollands Diep and the Haringvliet is the 1200 metre long Haringvlietbrug. This bridge has been thoroughly renovated and reinforced. The system of end-bearing piles was replaced and now meets the current standards and can accommodate increased traffic loads. The steel structures were galvanised by Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard and a three-layer wet paint system was applied, followed by a final coat of polyurethane. The entire preserving process was supervised by Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard.

Merger in Heerhugowaard

June 2010 – Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard and Poedercoating Heerhugowaard have been working together intensively for years. To give a boost to that teamwork and to simplify the structure, it has been decided to organise a legal merger, housing the activities of Poedercoating Heerhugowaard with Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard B.V. with effect from 1 July 2010. The trade name Poedercoating Heerhugowaard will be maintained alongside the trade name Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard.
